Amazon Seller

Companies who sell products on Amazon and are registered on Seller Central.

  • Sellers are responsible for setting up, and maintaining Seller Central Account.
  • Sellers add and update Item Product Listings, as well as manage Inventory, and Orders on Seller Central.
  • Sellers ship products to an Amazon FBA (Fullfillment By Amazon) Center or Direct to Customer.
  • Seller responsible for sales, shipping, logistics, and customer support.

Amazon Vendor

Brand Owners and large companies that wholesale products to Amazon.

  • Amazon invites brand owners and large companies with popular products to setup an account on Amazon Vendor Central.
  • Amazon issues Purchase Orders to Vendors. Many vendors ship in bulk (by pallet or trailer) to Amazon Distribution Centers.
  • Vendors submit Invoices and Amazon takes ownership of inventory.
  • Amazon responsible for sales, shipping, logistics, and customer support.

What is an FNSKU Barcode?

FNSKU stands for Fulfillment Network Stock Keeping Unit. FNSKU Barcodes are used by Amazon FBA Distribution Centers to receive, and store products shipped by Amazon Sellers.

FNSKU Number

Alphanumeric value assigned by Amazon.

Description

Item Description used in product listing. If description is too long for label, abbreviate using .... in middle.

Barcode Symbol

Code 128 Barcode formatted in accordance with Amazon FBA Requirements.

Condition

Item Condition is NEW or USED.

Where and What Data Fields?

The required data fields for an FNSKU label are located in Amazon Seller Central Account.

  • Go to Manage inventory to view all products.
  • To get FSNKU column to populate, use the Preferences: button on the top right of the page.
  • Once enabled, user should have access to SKU Condition, Product Name, and FNSKU columns.

Vendor Central Barcode Labels

Amazon Vendors use UPC, GTIN-14 and Shipping Labels to identify items, cartons and shipments to Amazon.

UPC-12 Product Labels

UPC stands for Universal Product Code. It is a 12 digit identifier for any trade item which can be purchased and sold. Each variation of a trade item, including additional sizes and colors, requires a unique UPC.

GTIN stands for Global Trade Item Number. It is a 14 digit identifier for different levels of packaging for cartons and packs containing Trade Items. They are often referred to as; Master Carton or Case Level barcodes.

What's the best size for an
FNSKU label?

Amazon requires FNSKU labels to be printed on a label with minimum 2” Length x 1” Height.

Items too small to accommodate a 2” x 1” FNSKU Label need to be placed into a plastic bag to enable a 2” x 1” label to be placed on each item being shipped to an FBA receiving location.
